week 6 -Rationale

For my intial activity/attraction I have chosen to explore markets around Wellington. The three markets that I promoted were the ;Harbourside Market, Cuba night Market and the Underground market. The reason why I chose these three markets in particular was that each of these markets a quite different from each other and that they are all in close proximity to each other and are right in the centre of the city. I tried to incorporate the liveliness of a market into a brochure by using bright colours and shapes. For my final brochure I brought paper and printed it at Massey, I’m quite happy with how it printed out as the paper looks quite organic and has slight texture to it which is relevant to market and a lot of things are handmade. Overall If I had more time I would have liked to work my images with my text more as its something I had a little trouble with working them together.

week 2

For our Monday studio we had a lecture on visual language and semiotics. After the lecture we made a visual matrix of images that we had gathered from researching our chosen activities. We then got into groups where we discussed our 3 activities and got feedback from the class on our matrix. For my activities I chose the Thorndon farmers market,Harbourside market, and the Cuba St night market. After getting feedback I have decided to change ether the farmers market or harbourside market as they are quite similar to each other(both vege markets)The lecturer suggested I look into another more varied market like the underground market which is an arts and craft market.
